THE COURSE
The course can be completed in your own time at your own pace
During the course you will have access to my study group, giving you even more accountability and support
The course includes a high proportion of hands-on practical classes on topics such as:
An introduction to the camera and photography for non-technical people - learn all that you need to know with an easy-to-understand overview
What different cameras / lens / mobile phone cameras are used for. I don’t want you to spend more on tech than you have to. So we work out what you need photos for and what tech you REALLY need
What other kit you need - props, backdrops, baseboards. I give you my recommendations of how to make your own, on a budget
Learn what story you need to tell with your photos - every photograph tells a different story depending on where the focus is. Decipher the story first so you take better photos
Composition - how to use patterns, texture, colour, depth, shapes, symmetry, asymmetry, contrast, background and foreground
Finding your style - how to bring together influences from different sources to create your own unique food photography style
Designing a dish to be photographed - create vibrant recipes that are easy to photograph
Food styling - how to cook and plate a dish for the perfect photo
Lighting - how to use different sources of lights for different effects
Editing - how to edit your photos to improve their quality and impact
This course is for you if you want -
to promote your vegan food online, either on social media or on a website
to design plates that convey the essence of a recipe
to learn how to style dishes with props
to take great shots in less time
This course is designed for chefs and other people working or wanting to work in the vegan food industry. It is also suitable for keen home cooks who want to share pictures of their food on social media or on a blog. It is not for people who want to work as professional food photographers.
The course is delivered through pre-recorded video content, written content and feedback via recorded video. Your work will be assessed throughout the course so that you can see your strengths and know what areas you need to work on more.
Throughout the course you will be expected to continually share your food photos with the study group and to a wider audience. This is part of the learning process that will help you to develop into a great food photographer quickly.
The course also includes
Lifetime access to an online study group with like minded people
1-2-1 support from Chef Day via email
Feedback on your photography and development
Prerecorded content so you can take classes at a time that suits you

How to access the course:
You will need use of a laptop, tablet or smartphone to access the course content. We have a private study group for our students on Facebook.
Dates and time: This course is available for you to start whenever is convenient for you.
It can be completed in as little as 3 months or as long as 12 months.
Students will receive access to the course which contains video and a written content to work through at their own pace. We have students living in different time zones therefore we are unable to do ‘live’ classes.
If you complete the course within 3 months the weekly time commitment will be approximately half a day per week (4-6 hours). You will also have to factor in time for buying ingredients and making dishes to photograph. However, most students take longer to do our courses. You can take a maximum of 12 months. In this case the weekly time commitment will be an average of 2 hours per week plus shopping/cooking time.
All course purchases give you access to the course for one year. A subsequent year extension is available with a fee of 30% of the course price.
