Cook time - 0 minutes

Difficulty - Easy

Serves / makes - 6-10 truffles

100g / 1 cup ground almond

2T ground cacao

2-3T rice/date/carob syrup

This is the base recipe, simply mix these ingredients together and roll into balls or put into a silicone ice cube tray and chill for 30 minutes.

You can change up this recipe in so many ways, here are some ideas....

Substitute some, or all, of the ground almond for....

Toasted and ground hazelnut

Porridge oats

Quinoa flakes (not to be confused with the round quinoa seed)

Any other ground nut

Always make up the mass of ground almond you have taken out with the substitution/s.....so if you remove 1/2 a cup of ground almond and you want to replace it with ground hazelnut use 1/2 a cup of ground hazelnut.

Substitute some of the cacao for...

Ground spices - cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg

Superfood powders - moringa, baobab, lucuma, maca, beetroot powder

Add texture....

Desiccated coconut

Seeds

Freeze dried raspberry pieces

Cacao nibs

You can dust the balls in ground cacao or ground nuts or desiccated coconut.

As you can see this is a recipe that you can change to your tastes or just to try something different. Many recipes are like this.....there is a base formula which you can freestyle on. Look out for this in new recipes you find and try out your creativity...this is a great way to break free from recipes and to speed up your cooking.
